Describe the behaviour before replacing a part. Repeated on-off pulsing, a single shutdown and a vacuum that never starts are different faults and can need different checks.
If it pulses repeatedly
Dyson’s V8 owner guidance identifies pulsing as a possible blockage alert. Switch off and inspect the accessible bin inlet, wand and head as directed in your manual. Check the filter is fitted correctly and is fully dry after any washing. Do not continue running the machine against an obstruction.
If it stops once during use
Record how long it ran, the power mode, the attachment used and any warning. Note whether it restarts after resting or charging. These details help the workshop assess whether airflow, the battery, the head or the main body needs attention.
Model-specific messages matter
V8, V10, V11 and later models do not all display faults in the same way. A light colour or screen message should be interpreted using the correct owner guide. Do not assume advice for a different model applies.
When to book an assessment
If basic owner-maintenance checks do not resolve the symptom, bring the body, battery, charger and affected attachment. Stop using the vacuum if you notice a burning smell, visible damage or unusual heat.
