Routine maintenance can address some performance problems, but it cannot establish the condition of a battery, motor or electrical component. Use the manual for your model rather than a general cleaning schedule.
Before washing a filter
Check whether the filter is washable and follow the model-specific instructions. Dyson advises allowing washed cordless filters to dry for at least 24 hours and making sure they are completely dry before refitting; drying may take longer. Do not dry filters in an oven, microwave, tumble dryer or near a flame.
Keep track of changing symptoms
Note a gradual drop in runtime, repeated blockage alerts, damage to clips or the bin, or a head that has become noisy. Give the workshop that history along with the model. Avoid washing the main body, motor or battery.
What makes a repair worthwhile?
Compare the complete quote with the vacuum’s overall condition, your needs and replacement options. Ask which fault the work will address, which parts are required, the expected timeframe and the warranty terms. A repair can make sense when the rest of the machine remains useful; several worn or damaged components can change that decision.
