A replacement battery should be chosen for the actual vacuum, not just its colour or a similar-looking online listing. This guide is for planning an assessment and understanding a quote, not for opening or rebuilding a lithium battery pack.
Confirm the model and fitting
Dyson publishes separate replacement instructions for different cordless families. Its guidance includes screw-secured batteries and click-in fittings. Photograph the model label and the visible fitting; do not assume a part for another V-series model will fit yours. For V10, V11 and later machines, include the precise variant rather than relying on the family name alone.
Our model identification checklist explains which details help. The workshop will check the proposed part against your machine before you approve the work.
Ask these questions about the quote
- Has the charging system been assessed, or is the battery only a suspected cause?
- Which battery is proposed, and how has its compatibility been confirmed?
- Who manufactures the part, and is it a genuine Dyson part or an alternative?
- What parts, labour and any assessment charges are included?
- What warranty terms apply to the quoted part and work?
- What is the expected availability and turnaround for this particular job?
The answers should refer to your quote. This website does not promise that every battery is in stock, that every repair uses a particular parts brand, or that one fixed warranty applies to every job.
Check manufacturer support first if appropriate
If the machine may still be covered by Dyson’s guarantee, contact Dyson before arranging independent work. Phone Medic Milton is an independent repair business, not an authorised Dyson service centre.
Keep damaged batteries out of the post
Do not charge, open or use a swollen, leaking, unusually hot or visibly damaged battery. Contact the team for handling advice. For mail-in enquiries, confirm what can be sent and the carrier’s transport requirements before packing anything.
Bring both the vacuum and charger
Include the charger even when you suspect the battery. Explain whether the issue is short runtime, no charging response or intermittent operation. You can start a repair enquiry with that information.
