A weak pickup does not tell you which part is faulty. Start by noting whether the problem appeared suddenly, only happens with one attachment, or has gradually become worse.
Start with the visible airflow path
- Switch the vacuum off and disconnect the charger before checking it.
- Empty the bin according to your model’s instructions. Check that it closes and fits correctly.
- Inspect the wand and cleaner head for visible debris. Only remove parts intended for owner maintenance, following the manual.
- Check the filter’s condition and fitting. Use the washing instructions for your exact model and let a washed filter dry completely before refitting.
What to tell the repair team
Note whether suction changes with different attachments, whether the motor sounds different, and whether a warning appears. These observations help us distinguish an airflow problem from a head, seal or main-body fault. They are not a diagnosis on their own.
When an assessment is useful
If the accessible path is clear and performance remains poor, request an assessment. Bring the cleaner head and wand as well as the body so the fault can be checked with the attachments you use.
Model-specific instructions: Dyson Australia support and cordless vacuum maintenance.
